An Event Photographer perfects the art of capturing memories of people sharing a common occasion. It is the testimony of the experience, forever.
That’s a pretty large responsibility, and one I do not take lightly. Every event I photograph has a different theme and emotion behind it. Not all are happy occasions, but the end result must be the same; translate those themes and emotions to photographs.
Event Photographers must be adept at capturing special moments at weddings, anniversaries, parties, and numerous corporate functions. The most crucial element of Event Photography is the communication with the client beforehand. We will discuss, at length, your needs and expectations. We will coordinate every step of how best to achieve the goal of capturing the life and essence of the event to create an engaging photographic record of all the important details.
Personally, I try to achieve this with more of a documentary style of photography. Let the moments naturally play out while being present to capture them without badgering guests and invading their space. If you are remotely as old as I am, you’ll remember the disposable cameras that were always placed on the tables of events. These inexpensive, flawed pieces of science always produced the best photographs of the event! The images were candid, honest, and natural.
To me, that’s the way a professional event photographer should deliver his work. As few posed with plastered smile photos as possible. With my equipment I can be across the room, out of the way and still zoom into the expressions. When up close and personal is required, I do it politely, with friendliness, also echoing the vibe of the event.
Budgets are tailored to meet the specific needs of a shoot. I usually recommend meeting at the location for a full understanding of the project before quoting a fee, Due to the pandemic, a full discussion by phone or video conferencing can get the job done.
I shoot for quality as well as quantity. I use multiple cameras including full frame Nikon D850 and Nikon Z mirrorless. I have an array of precision lenses to capture every angle from super wide to super zoom. I utilize on and off camera flash to make sure every image is lit properly.
I have many years invested in achieving a mastery of post processing platforms including Photoshop and Lightroom. Each selected image is adjusted for luminance, color balance, contrast, and cropping. I can add details such a dramatic sky, or eliminating parts of an image that would not otherwise benefit it. The highest level of quality is pursued every step of the way.
I do have the ability to travel for an event.
